Pacific War

 Pacific War

Greetings everyone! Here are a few historical pictures that I took using my iPhone a few days ago.

  • Japanese Pillbox - This Japanese pillbox is located at Micro Beach here in the CNMI. It's one of the surviving fortifications from the World War II era. It was made out of concrete, coral boulders, and rocks as part of the walls.

  • Village Chiefs' -  Located at Tanapag village, is the grave site or memorial for the village chiefs that came together to build the village now known as Tanapag.

  • Matsue Statue - The statue is of Haruji Matsue. Regarding sugarcane agriculture, he was convinced that Saipan had potential for the makings of sugarcane.

  • Saipan Jinja - The jinga was made in 1931, the Japanese built it to show the increase of the Japanese population here on island.

  • German Steps - 1904 is when a German District Administrator, George Fritz built these concrete stairways that led to the back of his house to the summit of the hill. It's one of the many things that are still in great shape throughout the years.
